SongEasel was established in 2018 to fill South East London with song. Each series holds diversity and inclusivity at the heart of its mission, in harmony with showcasing exceptional musical quality at an international standard.

Café Chanson 2021

Our 2021 mini series celebrates the musical cafe culture of nineteenth-century Paris through song, featuring two 2021 centenary composers: Pauline Viardot and Camille Saint-Saëns. 

12noon on 26th Sep ‘Communing with Nature’  

Huw Montague Rendall & Jocelyn Freeman perform Viardot, Poulenc and Fauré’s La Bonne Chanson at St Laurence Church, Catford. Free admission, retiring collection.

8pm on 27th Oct ‘Histoires Naturelles’  

Marta Fontanals-Simmons replaces Anna Stéphany and performs with Sholto Kynoch in a programme of Poulenc, Mahler and Berlioz at at Blackheath Halls. Tickets available via the Blackheath Halls Box Office.

8pm on 23rd Nov ‘Voyage’  

Jonathan McGovern, Josephine Goddard & Jocelyn Freeman share a recital of Viardot, Poulenc and Duparc at at Blackheath Halls. Tickets available via the Blackheath Halls Box Office.

12noon on 12th Dec ‘An Advent Calendar of Song’

Acclaimed tenor Mark Padmore joins pianist Jocelyn Freeman at St Laurence Church, Catford for an eclectic mix of Franco-festive song. Free admission, retiring collection.

12noon on 22nd Oct Masterclass 

We are delighted that French song specialist Laurent Naouri will lead a public masterclass for young song duos at the 1901 Arts Club, Waterloo. More details available here.
